Woburn panel OKs new facility rental rate

School Committee · Meeting of October 13, 2026

WOBURN — A Woburn parent told the School Committee the district missed a legal deadline to give her full access to her children's student records. Parent Rachel Kluber said Woburn Public Schools treats most technology vendors as exempt "service providers" under FERPA and declined to keep or share a list of companies receiving student data, saying "Woburn Public Schools has missed the legal timeline to provide me with access to my complete student record." Separately, Food Services Director Lisa reported the district now qualifies for Community Eligibility Provision status, meaning free breakfast, lunch and snacks for every student, plus a $169,000 state grant for fresh fruit and vegetables districtwide. Enrollment data showed Linscott Elementary down 27 students and Shamrock Elementary down roughly 25.

The committee approved a unanimous facility rental rate update effective January 1, 2027, and heard negotiation subcommittee chair Wetzel report 12 bargaining sessions with the teachers union since April 26.
