License Commission · Meeting of April 23, 2026
WOBURN — The Woburn License Commission approved a new Crowne Plaza manager and gave unfinished common victualer applicants another month. Commissioners voted 3-0 to approve a change of management for the Crowne Plaza Boston-Woburn, whose incoming manager described himself as a 30-year hospitality veteran, and 3-0 on a pledge of collateral for Sam Walker's American Tavern. A police captain asked that security policies adopted after earlier trouble at the hotel be restored.
Commissioners approved the complete common victualer licenses and delayed action on about two dozen incomplete ones until the May 14 meeting, after which holdouts face a hearing. The commission also planned to ask the city solicitor whether the Brickyard's "Down Under" bar needs its own business name.
