WOBURN — The Woburn Planning Board honored retiring member Claudia Leigh-Boulgan after 29 years of service and endorsed a routine lot-line relocation between 63 Pearl Street and 27 West Street. Mayor Michael P. Concannon read a proclamation calling Boulgan the city's longest-serving Planning Board member.
Economic Development Manager Casey Haggerty presented regional data showing Woburn's 3,800 businesses generate a commercial tax base equal to 48 percent of citywide revenue from just 28 percent of the land. She cited the $29 million New Boston Street Bridge, a $22 million PFAS water treatment plant, and a 504-unit Del Webb senior housing project as major investments nearing completion. Board members discussed accessory dwelling units, noting construction costs "over $300,000 in most instances" remain the top obstacle to adoption.
Energy Advocate Gabby Lovett, hired in January under the Mass Save Community First Partnership, introduced her outreach role to the board. The board also approved its May 12 meeting minutes before adjourning at 7:58 p.m.
